Attestation of Civil & Legal Document

Power of Attorney – issue requires two witnesses - with their proof of identity, and two photographs.

Sworn Affidavit / Declaration – may be applied for a new Passport for a new-born or minor child, or dependent parents, or other close family members, resident in India.

PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) – may be applied for along with details of the residence of the applicant in India for the relevant periods.

Birth Certificate – is issued for a new-born child of Indian nationals, upon application submitted along with the parents’ marriage certificate (if not available for any reason, special provisions apply), and the child’s birth certificate issued by the local authorities.

Death Certificate – is issued for an Indian national deceased in Tanzania after cancelling the passport, along with the death certificate issued by the local authorities.

Transport of Human Remains to India – This would require the death certificate issued by the Mission, and a letter from the mortuary stating that the body has been embalmed and sealed in a casket, or that the urn contains nothing else but the cremated remains of the deceased and that it has been sealed properly, as the case may be, which should be got attested by the Mission.

Renunciation of Indian Citizenship – may be applied for, in the prescribed proforma, along with the passport for cancellation.

Fee for Consular Services, in TZS:

• 21,500 for Attestation of legal documents, e.g., Affidavits/Power of Attorney (43,000 if the Mission's help is taken in drawing up the documents), and for death certificate
• 11,000 for other miscellaneous consular services, as above
• 53,000 for marriage solemnization, and for attestation of merchant ship documents
• 2,78,000 for attestation of papers relating to sale/purchase or transfer of shares of a ship
• 2.5 % of the property's value for succession certificate
• Gratis - attestation of pension papers and cancellation of a passport upon death.
