The High Commission of India is headed by High Commissioner and has following Wings:
(i)Administration Wing (ii) Consular Wing (iii) Commerce Wing
(iv) Press & Education Wing.
The
Cultural activities are looked after by the Indian Cultural Centre
located at 225 Toure Drive, Oysterbay, Dar-es-Salaam.
The
functions of the High Commission inter alia, include political and
economic cooperation, trade and investment promotion, administration of
ICCR Scholarships and training under ITEC Programme, cultural
interaction, press and media liaison, and scientific cooperation in
bilateral and multilateral
contexts.
The
High Commission functions within the purview of business allocated to
the Ministry of External Affairs under the Government of
India’s Allocation of Business Rules and Transaction of
Business Rules. |

General
Administrative powers are derived from :
- Fundamental Rules & Supplementary Rules.
- Indian Foreign Service (PLCA) Rules, as amended from time
to time.
- Financial powers of the Officers of the High Commission of

Government of India’s Representatives Abroad.
- Passport Act 1967
- Consular Manual
- Visa Manual
- Ministry of External Affairs guidelines issued from time to
time on Passport and Consular matters.
- Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines from time to time on
OCI, PIO and visa matters.
- Other powers are derived from (i) various guidelines &
instructions issued from Ministry of External Affairs, Home Affairs and
Commerce & Industry; (ii) other Ministries/Departments of
Government of India in consultation with MEA.

Minister
& Director (Culture Centre], Counsellor, First Secretary and three
Attaches, namely, Attache (Press & Education), Attache
